ELECTORAL REFORM COMMITTEE - CALL FOR MEMORANDA Mary Akanbi 30th September, 2022 You will recall that the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Maikyau, SAN in a bid to further improve electoral practices in the NBA, had earlier constituted the NBA Electoral Reform Committee. In furtherance of its mandates, the Electoral Reform Committee of the NBA hereby calls for Memoranda from NBA Branches (through their chairmen), members of the NBA, stakeholders and interest groups in the legal profession. Memoranda to be submitted should focus on the underlisted matters and any other matters connected thereto, namely: 1. NBA Request For Input To The Amendment Of The Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) ACT, 2015 Mary Akanbi 29th September, 2022 Distinguished Colleagues, The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) is in the process of proposing amendments to the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act 2015 (“the Act”). The proposed amendments are crucial to addressing emerging issues in cybersecurity and other issues not accommodated in the existing Act, and to further bring the Act in line with the National Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy (NCPS) 2021, the implementation of which has since commenced. The ONSA has invited the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to make input to the proposed amendments. Consequently, the NBA is calling for contributions/input in the form of memoranda, proposals, position papers from individual members, sections and fora of the NBA, on possible amendments to the Act. Fingers of Musician Chop Boii and Three Others Cut Off After Being Murdered In Abuja Mary Akanbi 28th September, 2022 Nigerian singer Chop Boii and three of his friends have been gruesomely murdered at their house in Gwarimpa,  Abuja.  Twitter user @HrhWheelz who shared the story, said the fingers of the singer and his friends were cut off by the assailants who also used their blood to write on the wall. The Twitter user insinuated that Chop Boii and another friend were at the wrong place at the wrong time, as she claimed the assailants came for his producer and his girlfriend who was also murdered.
