Register For NBA-SLP Annual Conference Holding in Abuja From 16th – 19th July, 2023 Mary Akanbi 26th June, 2023 The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Legal Practice (NBA-SLP) has commenced registration for its Annual Conference holding at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja from July 16 to July 19, 2023. The c onference is scheduled to hold at the NBA National Secretariat (NBA House), Abuja with the theme, “Legal Practice Without Borders.” The Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC), Mr. Paul Harris Ogbole SAN urges potential delegates to take advantage of the Early Bird window to register for the eagerly awaited conference. The Early Bird window runs from June 9 to June 26, 2023, while Late Registration commences from June 27 to July 12, 2023. NBA PRESIDENT'S STATEMENT ON THE COMMENTS MADE BY SENATOR ADAMU BULKACHUWA ON THE FLOOR OF THE SENATE ON JUNE 12, 2023 Dear Learned Colleague,   I watched with utter shock and disgust the video of Senator Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa on the floor of the Senate on Monday, 12 June 2023, as he addressed the Senate of the 9th Assembly during its valedictory session. In his remarks, he alluded to having interfered with the due administration of justice to help his colleagues/friends.   Please find attached the full text of my statement in reaction to the said video.   I shall take further steps with the Police and the ICPC to see that the matter is properly investigated for possible prosecution. Buhari Approves 10-day Extension For Old Naira Notes Phaseout Mary Akanbi 29th January, 2023 President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a 10-day extension for Nigerians to swap their old N1,000, N500 and N200 notes for the new ones. Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor Godwin Emefiele spoke with reporters after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in his Daura country home. He said banks will continue to give out the new notes in exchange for the old ones till February 10, 2023 The CBN Governor, who visited the President from around 11am, also said from February 10, Nigerians will have the grace of visiting the CBN to deposit their old notes for new ones for another seven days, which ends on February 17, 2023. “We have today sought and obtained Mr. President’s approval for the following: one, a 10 day extension of the deadline from January 31, 2023, to February 10, 2023, to allow for collection of more old notes, legitimately held by Nigerians and achieve more success i...
