BREAKING: Tanko Muhammad Reportedly resigns As CJN

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has resigned.


The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has resigned. According to some sources, they are saying that the CJN resigned on Sunday night, citing ill-health as the reason for his decision.

According to reports, arrangements are ongoing to swear in the next most senior justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Olukayode in an acting capacity.

According to reports, a formal announcement will be made shortly.

Until his resignation, reports had it that Justice Muhammad was seriously ill.

The development is the latest on the rumblings that followed the altercation between the 14 justices of the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
