NDLEA Chairman risks being sent to prison by the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja, via a Judgment Summons, for failing to pay One Million, One Hundred Thousand naira (#1,100,000.00) Judgment sum to an Applicant- Yusuf Musa!
The Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja, coram Honourable Justice Emeka Nwite had on 30th June, 2022, awarded the sum of #1000,000.00, as compensation and #100,000 as cost against NDLEA for its violation of one Yusuf Musa's fundamental rights by unlawfully detaining him for 52 days.
This Judgment Summons is a means of enforcing the said judgment since the judgment sum has remained wholly unsatisfied, pursuant to Part IV of the Sheriffs and Civil Process Act, 2004, especially, sections: 55, 56, 57, etc. Of the Act.
The NDLEA Chairman therefore risks being sent to prison by the court, for failing to pay the said judgment sum!
The Judgment Summons has been served on the defendant by the Bailiff of the Court on 2nd May, 2023). The Judgment Summons has been slated for hearing on the 24th May, 2023, before Honourable Justice Emeka Nwite of Court No. 10, of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja.
