The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, ECNBA, has officially announced the date for the NBA National Elections in 2024. The national leadership positions up for election are divided among the three regional zones as specified in the NBA Constitution.
The presidential and 1st Vice President positions will be contested in the eastern zone, while the General Secretary position is designated for the northern zone. The western zone will produce the 3rd Vice President.
Prospective candidates can obtain nomination forms from the ECNBA office in Abuja or download them online starting from March 11, 2024. The deadline for submitting completed forms is April 5, 2024.
In addition to the national election, each NBA zone will also elect a minimum of 6 representatives to the General Council of the Bar through electronic voting on July 20.
ECNBA Notice NO 2, signed by the Chairman Oluseun Abimbola SAN and Secretary Huwaila Ibrahim, outlines the details of the election process, including the date of the election and the nomination form submission timeline. The election for National Officers and General Council members is scheduled for July 20, 2024, with nomination forms being collected and submitted between March 11 and April 5, 2024.
