A Civil Society, *League For Social Justice* has in a letter sighted by our correspondence, reminded the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), to investigate and prosecute her officers who featured in  electoral  malpractices during the November 11 off- circle governorship elections in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa States.

Similarly,  the organisation, on the same date, wrote a Seven(7) day's demand notice  to the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC, demanding in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, for the details  of savings made from the removal of fuel subsidy.

The full statement released by its chief Legal Officer M.O.Idam, Esq., reads :

Gentlemen of the General Public!

Recall that we petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC), demanding an investigation and prosecution of his officials that indulged in electoral malpractices during the 11th November 2023, off-circle governorship elections in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa States.

We raised a petition, following videos which made the rounds on social media, featuring some staff of INEC that were caught with thumb-printed ballot papers. However, having waited till date without a feedback on the outcome of the investigation or prosecution of the individuals involved, we have decided to write a reminder to INEC, demanding that our petition be investigated without further delay and those indicted be prosecuted forthwith.

It is regrettable to have waited till date without a response, in spite of the fact that we had also submitted a videographic evidence of our petition as requested by the office of the INEC Chairman which phoned us not long after the submission of our petition to request for the videos.

Nevertheless, we have also submitted a letter to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited requesting under the Freedom of Information Act 2011, the details of the money saved from the Removal of Fuel Subsidy and the projects (If any) commissioned with the savings.

While we await the needed attention to our letters, we seek to reassert our commitment towards achieving a corrupt-free Nigeria.

We must have a system that can be trusted.

Maduabuchi O. Idam, Esq.
Chief Legal Officer,
League For Social Justice.
